Hello,I have a client scenario where the client presently has a dedicated laptop for gaming. Gamers will know that these machines have very complex installations and this client has not documented anything. He has ordered a new desktop machine for gaming that will replace the laptop with a faster machine with more horsepower or whatever a gamer needs. What I would like to do is to be able to backup the existing Windows 11 machine apps, data, settings etc, and when the new machine arrives restore all those things to the new machine. I am aware of the Windows Backup System that only works wi

  2. Migrating Windows Settings & other data from W10 Home install on SSD to W10 Pro on new NVMe

    Dear MixMax76,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community

Thank you for reaching out to us with your query about migrating your Windows settings from Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro on a new system. I understand you're looking to transfer your personalized settings without migrating the entire system and its apps. I'm here to help!

Migrating Windows Settings and Customizations: Unfortunately, there isn't a straightforward, built-in Microsoft tool that allows you to migrate all settings and customizations from one installation to another without some manual steps.

Using Built-in Windows Tools: If you sign in with a Microsoft account, many settings and customizations, such as themes, passwords, language preferences, and other settings, are synced across devices.

    • Go to Settings > Accounts > Windows Backup.
    • Ensure that Sync settings is turned on and select the individual settings you want to sync.

It is important to note that only a limited number of items can be backed up in this manner. If you need to back up additional important data, using an external drive is advisable. Even though much of the data may be outdated and not worth migrating, this method is generally reliable.

Regarding the third-party migration and backup tools mentioned, EaseUS Todo PCTrans and Laplink PCmover are available for trial. However, it's important to note that we do not recommend their use for backup and migration purposes as we cannot guarantee the reliability or availability of these third-party tools.

I hope the above explanation is enough to answer your questions. If you have any other questions about system installation and data migration, please feel free to let me know in your reply.

    Best Regards,

  3. Calendar App Crashes at Startup in Windows 11: Seeking Solutions

Found these steps and this fixed it for me. I had to "Get" the app first then update and now it's working:

Press the Windows key. Type Microsoft Store App or find it in your application list and then launch the app. Search for "Mail and Calendar" and then select Update. Once you have updated the app, you will be able to add additional accounts or update your existing accounts.
