Windows 10: Select an app keeps asking

I want to change what app to use to open a certain file type. When I set that app as the default and try to open the file directly windows keeps asking to select an app and when I select the app I want it asks over and over again endlessly. If I open the file in the program itself or drag and drop it opens just fine, and the default openers work fine with all other apps and filetypes. I have restarted, refreshed desktop, and reset defaults, to no avail. In addition, it only recognizes .exe name and not my shortcut name and shows a default icon rather than its icon.

Favorite selected keeps coming back

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.



Step1: Try deleting the Favorites in User profile and check if it helps.

• 
  Open C: Drive.
  
• 
  Select User.
  
• 
  Select user profile.
  
• 
  Click on Favorites.
  
• 
  If you’re able to see the favorites list, then you
  can delete the Favorites from there and check if it helps.

Can't Select Photoshop as a Default App

Hi
I've just downloaded Photoshop CC2018 and tried to make it the default photo viewer, but it does not appear in the list of apps that I can select from. Have also tried doing the same for opening .jpg files, but just the same, no Photoshop! I have rebooted the system a couple of times but it makes no difference.

Any suggestions?
