Windows 10: Selected folder for background images displays no files

Greetings -I've been using the slideshow option for my desktop background for several years now and it has worked pretty well. Yesterday the slideshow stopped working - now the same images dual monitor setup are always displayed and never change they had been set to change every hour. So I go to Settings > Personalization > Background and click the Browse button to choose a picture album. In the Select Folder window that pops up the path to my background images is correct but the file pane displays "No items match your search." If I navigate to other subfolders of the Pictures fo

In order to help you better, could you please confirm a couple of things.

• Have you made any changes on the computer prior to the issue?
• Are you referring to desktop background image or lock screen image?

I suggest you to follow the below steps to change the background picture and check if it helps.

• In the search type as ‘Settings’ and click on it.
• Select ‘Personalization’, under ‘Background’ option select as ‘Picture’.
• Under ‘Choose your picture’ select any picture accordingly or you can browse the picture from your computer.

Can no longer select pictures as background

Previously I was able to select pictures from my PC as a background, including using a group of pictures as a rotating theme. But now when I try to do the same and go into a folder on my hard drive to select photos, the photo files are not listed at all.
I have many folders of pictures but none show the photo files when I try to use the background option. I can see the pictures fine otherwise.

Any suggestions?

Viewing picture files in folders does not display image or preview

To better assist you with your concern, I'd like to know the following:

• Confirm which build is currently installed on your device. To check, follow the steps below:

1. Press Windows key + R, then type in winver.
2. Click OK.

• What is the make and model of your device?
• Please idenfify the troubleshooting steps that you've taken so far.

Meanwhile, I'd recommend performing the steps below to troubleshoot the said issue:

1. Press Windows key + E to open File Explorer, then click on
View tab.

2. Click on Options, then select Change folder and search options.

3. Click on View tab. UnderFiles and Folders, make sure to uncheck the box for
Always show icons, never thumbnails.

If the issue still occurs, try to copy the images without preview/thumbnail and paste them back in the same folder. You should be able to get the preview and just need to delete the original files.

In addition, if you're using OneDrive in your computer, users had suggested that unchecking the "Save space and download files as I need them" resolve the issue for them.
