Selecting folders to sync with Onedrive on a new computer

I bought a new laptop and after logging into onedrive, it starts to scan all my files from my desktop to make them available on the laptop too; But i don't need like 95%, so I tried to select which files to make available in settings>account. But onedrive says you can't do that until all the files are scanned. So l left the damn thing open for hours, and when I came back onedrive just crashed at 350000 files or whatever. And then it just starts scanning the files again. Does anyone know how I can bypass this stupid system and just select the 3 damn folders I need? Thanks.this is what suppor

    :)

  2. OneDrive sync.

If you don't want to sync all of your folders in OneDrive to your computer, you can specify which folders you'd like to sync.

Note: You can choose which folders to sync only if you are using the new OneDrive sync client.

Not sure which sync client you're using?

    1. Open the Sync your OneDrive files to this PC dialog box using one of these methods:
      • In File Explorer, right-click a folder in OneDrive or OneDrive for Business, and select
        Choose OneDrive folders to sync.

        OR
      • Select the white or blue OneDrive cloud icon in the Windows taskbar notification area.

      • Select the Account tab, and select Choose folders.

Note: You might need to select the Show hidden icons arrow

next to the notification area to see the OneDrive icon.
    2. In the Sync your OneDrive files to this PC dialog box, uncheck any folders you don't want to sync to your computer and select
      OK.

      Notes:
      • If you uncheck a folder you are syncing to your computer, the folder will be removed from your computer. The folder and its contents will still be available online.
      • The sync settings you choose are unique to each computer unless you're syncing everything everywhere. Also, if you're choosing folders on two computers and you create a new folder on computer A that you want to sync to computer B, you'll need to go to computer
B and select the new folder there.

    Move the OneDrive Folder

Move the OneDrive Folder in Windows 10

When you set up OneDrive to sync with your computer, a folder C:\Users\XXXX\OneDrive will be created to store the contents. XXXX denotes your username. To move this folder to another location follow these simple steps:

    1. Unlink OneDrive from your PC:

    • Go to the taskbar notification area
    • Right-click on the OneDrive icon
    • Select settings
    • Click: Unlink this PC
    2. Delete the C:\Users\XXXX\OneDrive folder

    3. Create a new folder (target folder) for OneDrive contents, e.g. D:\OneDrive

    4. Create Directory Junction for the new folder

    • In the search area of the taskbar type CMD and press Ctrl+Shift+Enter
    • In the command window type
    mklink /J C:\Users\XXXX\OneDrive D:\OneDrive

adjusting it to your specific username and selection of the target folder

    5. Link again OneDrive to your PC using the OneDrive icon in the taskbar notification area
