  1. Selecting Startup settings in a recovery reboot causes a black screen

Here's what I did in order windows 10Held shift and selected restart in the start menu Screen said please wait... and booted up the recovery screenI selected Troubleshoot, then Advanced Options, then Startup Settings, then clicked RestartAfter restarting, it just had a black screen for several minutes. I tried pressing F4 because I was trying to use Safe Mode. Pressing F4 didn't boot up Safe Mode, so I'm assuming that not only was the display black, but it didn't reach the Startup Settings menu after restarting.I had to force shut down my PC. I booted it up again as normal and it was fine. B

  2. Black Screen on startup

    Hi Sergio,

There is a possibility that the black screen could have been caused by a corrupted file or the concerned could be during the boot process. To isolate the possible cause, we recommend that you follow the steps below:

    • Once you are on Start Menu, select Enable Safe Mode. If you can boot through
Safe mode, we can verify that your computer can still boot up.
    • From Safe Mode, you need to performed a Clean boot. This is to isolate other drivers or startup programs that could cause the black screen. To do
Clean boot, please refer to this link.
    • After performing Clean boot and your computer can boot normally, you would need to go to
Event Viewer. Just search Event Viewer in your
      Search box
and select Windows Logs. You would need to check each tab and verify which could have caused the black screen, from there please provide us a screenshot. Base on the screenshot that you will send, we will know what is the
next step or resolution to provide.

We look forward to your response.

Laptop went black and won;t reboot

    Hi Andree,

Hardware and software conflict is one of the possible reasons why you're experiencing black screen. Sometimes, it is also because of hardware failure. To get this issue fixed, we suggest that you
boot into Safe Mode by following these steps:

    • Turn off your computer 3 times while booting. Windows should automatically boot to the Recovery Environment after 3 unsuccessful attempts in a row.
    • Once you are within the Recovery Environment, select Troubleshoot, and then
Advanced options, then Startup Settings, and
      Restart
. When it restarts, you should see a number of options. Press 5 or F5 for
      Safe Mode with Networking.
Once your computer is in Safe Mode, please follow the workaround provided on this
link. Simply select the similar case that you're experiencing to show the troubleshooting steps.

Let us know how it works.
