Self Made Icons For Apps And Folders Disapear in Win 11 Taskbar

So I made myself some Icons for Apps like Photoshop etc., which I have pinned to my taskbar. At the start all worked out and they still show these custom icons on my Desktop and explorer. But after a few days they began to disappear when I start the PC. I than have to go into the Task Manager and restart the explorer and the icons are back. Do you have any clue what I could have made wrong with the icons? I did this at my admin konto and I did change the icons from the place where the application is loading.

    :)

  2. Adding a folder as an Icon to the Taskbar

    Hello Bluehills,

One possible way to add a folder as an icon to the taskbar in Windows 11 is to use the Quick Launch toolbar. Here are the steps to do that:

    1. Right-click on an empty space on the taskbar and select Toolbars > New toolbar.

    2. In the dialog box that opens, navigate to the folder that contains your shortcuts and select it. Click on Select Folder.

    3. You should see a new toolbar on the right of the taskbar with the name of the folder. You can drag it to adjust its position and size.

    4. To remove the text and show only icons, right-click on the toolbar and uncheck Show Text and Show Title.

    5. To change the icon of the folder, right-click on it and select Properties. Click on Change Icon and choose an icon from the list or browse for a custom one. Click OK to apply the changes.

You have now added a folder as an icon to the taskbar in Windows 11. You can access your shortcuts by clicking on the icon and choosing from the menu that pops up.

    Hope this helps,

Windows 11 taskbar icons not working

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I appreciate your interest in Windows 11. I understand that Taskbar icons are not working after upgrading to Windows 11. I’ll certainly assist you with the issue.

    However, please let us know:

    1. What happens when you click on an icon on the Taskbar?
    2. Do you receive any error message/code?
    3. Does this issue occur with all the icons?

Meanwhile, I would suggest you to try re-registering the taskbar and see if that works. Kindly follow the steps mentioned below.

    1. Press Windows + X keys together and click on Windows PowerShell (Admin)
    2. Now type in the following command and hit Enter: Get-AppXPackage -User ([System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity]::GetCurrent().Name) *ShellExperienceHost* | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}
    3. Restart the PC once the command is complete.

If the issue persists, you can try creating a new user account and then see if you are able to access the icons on the Taskbar.

Let us know how it goes.

    Regards,
