It's my understanding that Windows product keys are associated with specific Microsoft accounts now. I have changed hardware several times with my current Windows product key and each time, I install Windows and skip product key entry. Then, when I register my Microsoft account with Windows setup, it finds the key there and activates my Windows.But now I am giving/selling my computer to someone and they won't have access to my Microsoft account. How do I unlink that product key from my account and have it registered to the new owner when they install Windows I am wiping the drives?I have fou

Selling PC with Windows license

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I want to sell a PC to my brother and I want the Windows license to go with it. I have all the parts for a replacement PC that I will build in a few days and for that I will buy a new Windows license. I guess the
questions I have are:

1. How do I transfer a Windows license to another person, or is that possible with current licensing rules? The hardware that the license runs on would be the same, just a different person. I don't know if he has a Microsoft account, but we can set one up
   if necessary. This license was originally bought as Windows 7 and then converted to a Windows 10 license. I don't remember if it was an OEM or retail copy or if that is important.
2. Since I'm building another PC which will need a Windows license, would it just be easier to transfer the license I currently own to the new PC and buy a new license for my brother? In that case, the license would stay with the same person (me) and the same
   Microsoft account, but will run on all new hardware.

 

Will Windows 10 Pro License Key Transfer to new Owner?

I have system that I upgraded from Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro through the Microsoft OS upgrade process. (The Home license was Retail and not OEM.) So I believe the Pro license is associated to my Microsoft account. I want to sell the system and
transfer all rights to this Pro OS to the new user. I've identified the Pro key using a utility so I can provide that to the new owner. My question is, will this work and will it be legitimate. I'm very conscious of this last question.

Windows 10 Pro license transfer to new owner

I have a Samsung laptop with OEM Windows 10 Home installed originally. I upgraded via MS Store to Windows 10 Pro on this same PC. I used my Outlook.com ID for install/managing the PC.

I now want to sell the PC. It will be reset to factory, which is Windows 10 Home. How can the Win10 Pro upgrade be provided to the new PC owner, or will the upgrade automatically be downloaded/applied to the PC when the new owner connects to the Internet?

I am removing the device from my Outlook (Microsoft) account. So, it should no longer be tied to me or my account. I want the upgrade license to stay with the PC asset, as my new PC has Pro license.
