Windows 10: "Send to" "Compressed Folder" has stopped working on my PC and none of the web advice I've...

This started a couple of months ago. I don't know if it was an anti-virus issue or if it happened because of a windows update.I was able to get a trial of WINzip and could zip files for a month, but I don't want to rent their software. I just want the same old windows zip option I always had to work again.The attached image is what displays when I try to send a file to a zip archive.I performed a restore point to the oldest available. The restore failed but on a lark I tried "Send to" anyway and it worked! However, that was a few days ago, and today I've found that it is not working again.

Compressed (zipped) folder program has stopped working

Sendto "Compressed (zipped) folder" is working again. It started working last night after I restored to the previous build. It's also working after updating to the latest Windows 10 update this morning. So if I delete the 0-byte (Bluetooth) file, I won't
know if that had anything to do with the problem. I looked in the Properties for that 0-byte file and it shows to be "Send to Bluetooth (.Send to Bluetooth)" Type of File. The file date is 11/23/2014. The only file in that folder that's got a recent file
date is the "Bluetooth device" shortcut, dated 12/4/2015.

"Bluetooth" is the only item in the sendto folder that does not appear in the sendto menu list. The sendto menu list includes all the other items in the sendto folder. The sendto menu list also includes a mapped network drive.

 

No option to compress folder

1. How exactly are you trying to compress the folder?

Follow these steps to check if that helps.

1. Locate the file or folder that you want to compress.

2. Right-click the file or folder, point to Send to, and then click Compressed (zipped) folder.

A new compressed folder is created in the same location. To rename it, right-click the folder, click Rename, and then type the new name.

If the issue persists then Perform
System File Check (SFC), and then check if this fixes the issue.

Follow the steps:

SFC scan:

1. Press Windows logo + X.

2. Select command prompt admin.

3. Type ‘sfc /scannow’ (without quotes) and press enter.

4. Restart your computer.
