  1. Sent Emails from the Microsoft APP sending out the wrong "Name" of my Gmail account

I have several gmail accounts. When I send out an email to someone or a group it doesnt matter, the sent from Name on one of the gmail accounts shows up wrong.

I have "named" them all different names, both in the Gmail web site and on my laptop windows 10 home email app.

When I send an email from my ipad or phone the correct "Name" then <email.com address> shows up.

But when I send an email from my Windows 10 Home laptop using the APP the "Name" is wrong next to the <email.com address>

    It looks like this

From: Raymond LDC <*** Email address is removed for privacy ***>

What I've set it to look like is this When i send it from my Ipad this is the right thing that shows who it was sent from

From: Dancing With Wendy <*** Email address is removed for privacy ***>

I've deleted and reinstalled the email account on my laptop. didnt work. renamed it on the app it didnt work.

    Any Idea's?

    Thank You

    :)

using a Gmail email account, How to have the Send name on the account be an alias name, and not the account name?

Does anyone know a way, when using a Gmail email account, to have the Send name on the account be your alias name, and not the account name?

using Win ph 7 and HTC HD 7, both of which i like so far, but for privacy reasons, dont want my account name showing to people generally on sent emails or replies...any suggestions? Is this restriction just for Gmail on Windows Phone?

  3. Windows 10 Mail app doesn't send From (sender) name for gmail accounts

    Hi There!

I've started using the Windows 10 mail application. I've one outlook and multiple gmail accounts. When I send an email, the app doesn't send the From name what I've saved in the settings, instead it sends with my email address in the from section. It happens
with all of my gmail accounts, but it doesn't happen with the outlook account.

So to clarify: When someone get's an email from me,
they see my email address (without the @gmail.com) as the person who sent the email,
    not my name.

I've tried multiple solutions I've found online:

    • disable and re-enable sync settings. - Didn't help.
    • delete and re-add account. - Didn't help.
I know there are open discussions about it, but I've managed to narrow down the problem to a specific bug. Thanks for the help in advance!

  4. Sent Emails from the Microsoft APP sending out the wrong "Name" of my Gmail account

Windows Mail App uses wrong sender name in messages I send

I have found when using a Gmail account with Windows 10 Mail App that it uses the wrong sender name. This has been posted about before and I could not find a posted solution. This was the fix for me.

It all relates to the order in which email accounts are created. Change the order and the results change. This means deleting them and adding them again at the bottom of the list.

Here is what happened to me. I set up my Windows 10 Mail App with my first email address, my Windows ID / hotmail account, sending emails using my real name.

My Dad has Alzheimers so I added his BT Internet email account to the mail App so I can manage his emails remotely for him, and send them using his name rather than mine. (I telephone him and he tells me what he wants to say in reply, and on bad days I type
    it for him).

Then I added another hotmail account that I use for blogging, and sends emails with my 'public posting persona' rather than my real name.

Then I added my old Gmail account and that is when the problem occurred. When you choose Google from the 'list of types' when adding an account, the 'helper' doesn't ask you who you want to send email as. Instead it looks through the list of previous non-microsoft
accounts, picks the first one it finds, and assumes that you want to send email claiming to be this person. This isn't very helpful of the 'helper'. So having added the email accounts in the order I did, my Gmail account now started impersonating my Dad -
using his name as the sender instead of the one Google things I am.

I checked the registry and Dad's name was not in there anywhere.

The solution was to delete Dad's email account, add my gmail account, and then add Dad's account back in again.

There is a principle in software engineering that the order in which data is processed should not affect the outcome. This is a 'bug' in the microsoft / google email-adding 'helper'.

So to get it to work the way you want, you need to ensure that Gmail is either the first non-microsoft email account in the list, or there is another non-microsoft email account further up the list that has the same personal name you want to use in Gmail.
You cannot edit the order of the list of email accounts in Windows 10 Mail App, so you have to delete them and add them in the right order. This shouldn't be how it works, but it does work that way.
