Windows 10: separate arrangement for different external monitor setups

Hi folks!

I have a laptop and two external monitors. One is at home, and the other in the office. So it happens that it's convenient to have a laptop to the left from the external monitor in one setup and to the right in the other. However, the monitor arrangement recently started applying the same arrangement (e.g. laptop screen on the left, and external screen on the right) for the two monitors. Is there a way to make Windows remember that different arrangement should be used depending on the external monitor the laptop is connected to?

Double Monitor Setup is not connecting

Hi Yuri,

To setup dual monitors, I suggest you to press Windows + P keys
and select Extend or the required option and check for status. If you are still unable to setup dual monitor, suggest you to update the Display Adapter driver by following the steps provided below and check for status.

• Press Windows key + X and select Device Manager.
• Expand Display Adapters.
• Right click on the driver and select Update Driver Software.
• Follow the on-screen prompts to update the driver.

Desktop icons re-arrange when connecting external monitor

I have a laptop as my primary work computer and sometimes I connect it on the same monitor as always. But this time I wanted to test what would happen if I set the secondary monitor as primary.

Since then, if my laptop is set to primary, I connect it to my monitor and if the external monitor position is set to right, all my desktop icons re-arrange. If the external moitor is set as primary and if the monitor position is set to left, it re-arrange
the icons too.

I want the Icons to stay at there places, like before. how can I do it?

 

External monitor blanking often

Please answer these questions to assist you better.

• What is the make and model of your computer and external monitor?
• Have you installed all pending Windows and driver updates?
• Do you get any error message?

I suggest you to install all pending Windows updates in your PC and also update Display drivers. Follow the steps below.

Step 1: I would suggest you to check and install any latest Windows Updates available.

• Go to Start and then Settings.
• Click on Update and Recovery.
• Check for updates under
  Windows Updates.
• Restart the system and check if the issue is resolved.
