Windows 10: Serial com ports.

I am trying to use a USB-RS232 lead on my laptop. I cannot create any COM ports and none are there by default. If I try this on my desktop it works perfectly. When trying to create a COM port I get an invalid parameter error and the creation fails

E60 Bluetooth Serial port profile not detected

Hi,

The Nokia site lists that E60 supports Serial port profile, but when I try to browse the phone services on my pc (with bluetooth adapter), it does not list Serial port profile! I would not blame the bluetooth adapter, because it finds serial port profile (SPP)
on my wife's phone and all other services on my E60! Do I need to do something special to enable SPP on the E60?

How to factory reset Cisco 1700 Router

Hopefully I can help you here....its a very common thing to happen.


First, I take it you dont know the passwords for console access or telnet/ssh?

I will assume that these devices belong to you.

step 1. Plug a cisco console cable into a serial port on your pc
step 2. Plug other end into Cisco console port
step 3. Using hyperterm or putty or similar connect to the serial port
step 4. boot router, and make sure you clearly can see the output (this confirms you have good serial comms)
step 5. if this fails, adjust the comm port settings (9600, 8,1,n are the default)
step 6. now you have to do the only hard part...send the break command:

Break command list: Break Commands

Go down the list and match your OS and SW and try the sequence suggested.

If this fails several times do what I do: Install putty (free) and then to send a break so you can get into rommom just hit "ctrl-a b".

I recommend you to update the HooToo USB port driver and check if this helps. Follow the below steps.

  Press Windows key + X and click on

  Click on Universal Serial Bus to expand and right click on the port device and click on
  Update.
  

If the issue still persist, I suggest you to go to the USB manufacturer website and install the driver for Windows 10. If the available USB driver is not for Windows 10, try installing the driver in compatibly mode and check.
