Windows 10: Serial port data transmission and communication using batch file.

Hello,I have been working on an Arduino project which involves sending data of a sensor to my PC via a serial port. The ideal goal is to achieve this using a batch file that can read the data coming from the serial port and record them in a .txt file. In addition to that, I would also like to do the transmission wirelessly using an HC-05/HC-06 Bluetooth module and write the output to a .txt file using a batch file. My Bluetooth serial port is COM8 and the Arduino port is COM7. Thanks in advance.

Serial port data streaming

Hey guys, I'm doing a project that involves sending data via a serial port. The data is streaming and I'd love to find a way to real time process it on the fly, but I'd settle for a simple serial port logger so I can import(copy and paste) the data into a txt/xls file for processing.

Is there a simple way to read in data from a serial port and process it real time? The data being sent is a binary decimal data, I can get into more detail later.


Is there a simple way to log the serial port data and keep it for easy export?

Full project details:

Transmit 3-axis acceleration data via wireless RF communications.

A digital accelerometer sends data to a XBee RF module, the data is sent via serial commands with a Basic Stamp 2 micro-controller. The XBee transmits the data to a receiver called XStick which is a USB device that appears as a serial port.

Right now the USB XStick has an open terminal to stream and view the data, but it's not user friendly and other than watching the data come in it doesn't do much else.

I'd like to use this streaming serial port data to update a graph or alternative plot. I have no idea how to do this.

Otherwise, I'd like to have a user friendly way of exporting the data to Excel for easy processing. Alternatively, a .csv file would be friendly for MatLab(if anyone wants to help *Smile ).

Since serial transmission is now very rarely used, your best bet is to use a search engine to in order to see how it's done. An easier way would consist of using a cross-over CAT5 cable.
