  1. Serious Windows 10 or Display issue?

I tried playing The Wolf Among Us on Steam last night, swapping the primary display to my second screen a ~2015 tv and bumping up the resolution in game. The computer began lagging, requiring me to end the task but the game ran fine on second attempt. Since then I have encountered a series of problems:

    - icons on the desktop and most of the taskbar is unresponsive. clicking on them will make the computer pause and think, then go black for a split second, then back to normal but with no desktop icons. sometimes apps will work after that Chrome but other times they never work File Explorer, Recycle Bin, Winword. The desktop icons will reappear after a few minutes.

    - right clicking on the desktop and selecting personalize or display settings will have similar problems to clicking on icons--it usually hangs for a second, blinks, and then sometimes brings up the right menu.

    - various updates and processes will hang. a java update and an update for the graphics card started but hung on the loading screen without doing anything. Basically all of the Windows processes I have tried will not do anything or will start but not complete. This includes: various windows troubleshooters, Checking for Windows Updates, and Automatic Repair. What I have got to work was the Command Prompt for System File Checker and DISM although neither helped.

    - SuperAntispyware updated fine and found nothing but tracking cookies. I can not install a new virus program because every status bar hangs at some point. I have set the graphics drivers back a few months, disabled the second monitor, and reset to default all the GPU settings. I have tried to uninstall the whole GPU suite but as I said the process hangs at 3%.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
