    server 2016 Element not Found error 0X80070490


    My windows Server running version 2016 has suddenly started to produce an error when installing updates or trying to add new roles or features.for exmaple i see this in teh seup event logPackage KB??????? failed to be changed to the installed state. Status 0X80070490This happens to any update that i try to install.it also stops new roles or featuers being installed.i have tried loads of things including resetting windows update.deleting c:\windows\softwaredistributiondeleting c:\windows\ system32\cartroot2running sfc /scannowrunning DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /Restorehealthrunning DISM /

    Thanks for the fast reply i disabled the AV and the SuS server. I went through the steps of starting and stopping the services and get the same results Error 0x80070490. Let me know if you have any other troubleshooting steps that i can try.

    I am getting this error when trying to update/upgrade machines to the april 1803 version using or sus server. I have tried all the troubleshooting steps that microsoft recommends and keep getting this error when i retry. I have disabled the sus in the registry
    and it still will not go any help is appreciated.
