Service host sys main using hard disk

    Hello

So i was playing Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order these days and i noticed that every time after like 2-3 hours of playing, when i exit the game and open up task manager, the Service Host: Sys Main is using up like 50% of my hard disk.

It just stays at about 50% of my hard disk and then after about 1 minute it drops back down to 0% or 1% like it always does.

Is it normal that it stays about 1 minute at 50% hard disk usage ?

Should i be worried ? I mean is my HDD dying ?

I've got a Seagate 2TB HDD which is about 5 years old.

    :)

windows 10 Service Host: Local Network

    Hi,

Service Host: Local Network contains a sub-service called
    Superfetch
that is used to pre-load data from hard disk into RAM memory. To improve your PC's performance, we suggest that you disable Superfetch service. Here's how:

    • Press Windows key + X on your keyboard, then choose
      Command Prompt (Admin).
    • When prompted with the administrator permission, click Yes to continue.
    • Type in the following command: net.exe stop superfetch.
    • Hit Enter.
    • Wait for a few minutes to see if changes can be seen on your computer’s performance.
    • If you want, you can also run a disk check by typing the following command:
      chkdsk.exe /f /r
      .
    • Press Enter.
    • Type Y to confirm the disk check by the time you restart your computer. Please make sure you have closed all of your applications first.

Let us know if you have successfully completed the steps and the result.

Browser /connection security, hosts file and DNS service

You're saying that Open DNS(and other services like it) house their own list of known 'bad' sites, and by using their DNS servers, it will filter out sites based on that list?

Would you believe I was already using Open DNS servers.
This means the hosts file is moot?

And furthering that, if there's any bespoke sites I want to manually add, I could do it through my router directly.

Thus I can empty my local hosts file and turn my DNS service back on?
