Set default application size and position on open - working with multiple extension displays.

Hi, I have seen a couple of closed threads asking the Microsoft community if a default size and position setting is available for applications. Its use case is as follows:User with single laptop with WFH and office setup, both using a USB-C connection and multiple extension displays/monitors. Configuration, monitor number, monitor size etc may differ between office and home workstations and therefore, when moving between the 2 working environments, applications previously arranged, shrink or move to fit the single screen during transportation but remain in that format once connected to the alt

  2. How can I set the default size and position for all posible programs I could ever open?

Please do not suggest to "open the desired program, set its size and position, close it and the next time it is opened it will remember its size and position".

I need to set the default size and position any newly installed program will open with. Is it possible with Windows 10?

The size could be either the percentage of the screen size or exact size in pixels.

I understand there are no such settings in the Settings app or the Control Panel. I can edit the registry with no problems.

Set default application size and position on open - working with multiple extension displays.

Application not showing in default app

Do this for each file extension you want to set up to run with your chosen application: 1 Right click on a file with the file extension you want to set up, 2 Open with, 3 If the one you want is not in the list then Choose another app, 4 Set the Always use this ... checkbox, 5 If the one you want is not in the list then More apps, 6 If the one you want is not in the list then Look for another app on this PC, 7 Browse to and select the chosen application's .exe file, click on Open, 8 It will then open the file in the chosen app. 9 All other files with the same file extension should also run in your chosen app if you now simply double-click on them. Most of this is also explained with pretty pictures in Option 2 of Choose Default Apps - TenForumsTutorials but it leaves out my steps 6, 7. Instead, the tutorial takes a bit of a shortcut that I generally don't take. If you had only been interested in getting your chosen apps in the Open with list instead of working through to set them as the default app for those file extensions then I would have suggested a different tutorial: Remove, Add Programs from Open with Context Menu - TenForumsTutorials and I would have advised you to take note of post #26 in that tutorial thread Remove, Add Programs from Open with Context Menu [hexaae UWPApps note #26] - TenForumsTutorials All the best, Denis
