  1. Set power settings for when upgrading to current update

I'm currently stuck at 1909, and the reason why I haven't been able to move to 2004 it's because of my CPU: an AMD FX-8320E which has exhibited some failings recently. It crashes on any power setting that pushes it to 100%, my current custom profile prevents it from reaching 99% so it won't crash.

However seeing how it crashes before completing the installation of the 2004 update after the first restart, I have to assume it reverts itself to a default power setting. Any way to prevent this?

Thank you for the quick response. We will now move to the second phase of troubleshooting. We suggest that you follow the steps provided below:

Method 1: Run the Power Troubleshooter.

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with your system's power settings. Here's how:

    • In the search box, type troubleshooting, and then click
      Troubleshooting
      .
    • Click on the view all option on the left panel.
    • Run the Power troubleshooter.

    Method 2: Customize Power options.

If issue persists, the the following steps and check.

    • In the search box, type Power options, and then click.
    • Click on choose when to turn off display from the left pane.
    • Click on Restore default settings for this plan.
    • Click on Change advance power settings.
    • Scroll down and expand Power buttons and lid.
    • Expand Power button actions.
    • Click on the Setting and set it to Shut down.

    Windows 10 Power Settings

    Hi Mike,

There are various reasons why you are experiencing this issue. One of which is misconfigured power settings.

Considering that the settings are properly set up and the issue is still happening, we suggest running the troubleshooter for Power on your Settings. This will help in identifying the root cause of the issue and provide appropriate fix for it. Kindly
follow the steps below to do it:

    • Open Settings.
    • Choose Update & security.
    • Under Update & security, choose Troubleshoot.
    • Under Find and Fix other problems, scroll down and look for
      Power
      .
    • Click Power, and click Run the troubleshooter tab, then, follow the on-screen instructions to perform it.

Kindly update us with the outcome so we can provide further assistance.

Power Settings Ignored by Lenovo Yoga 400 laptop

    • Did you make any changes to your computer? I dont know.. what kind of changes are you talking about. I only added software.. like Norton Security and a few free MSFT apps.
    • Which Build are you currently in? I dont know..probably the latest one. How do i determine "the build"?? I always update windows and pretty sure this is up to date here.
    • Which troubleshooting steps did you try? Tried everything that was suggested,..power troubleshooter, update graphics card, set power settings to default, and other things.. nothing worked. Has been a problem for many months.
How do i do this clean boot? I will need instructions for these things..step by step. i am tired of this machine ignoring the power settings. Need this fixed.
