like title post. ive set up my 4k tv as a "second monitor" via hdmi my main monitor is display port so i can watch films/youtube/etc on the sofa. it all connects fine on windows 10 and after i 'Windows key' + 'P' and select 2nd screen only and main monitor turns off, but as soon as i use any input via mouse or keyboard main monitor turns itself back on and windows reverts automatically to duplicate. how do i get windows to just display on "2nd monitor" without duplicating, even though ive told it to not duplicate. once im back on main screen it stays as 1 screen only, exactly how i want it t

I'm duplicating the monitor to the TV. Duplication always uses the lowest resolution of the two devices

Thank you for the update and sorry for the delayed response. To isolate the issue, try connecting the cable to other ports or use a different HDMI cable and see if it will work. If not, try following these steps to check output settings and see if it will
resolve the issue:

• On your desktop, right-click on a blank space and select Personalize.
• Click System then select Display.
• Check if you can see the TV as second monitor.
• If not, click Windows key + P.
• Select Duplicate.
• If the duplicate option is not applicable, select Extend instead.
• After that, repeat steps 1 to 3 again and see if the TV is now detected.

Issue solved

Removed DVI/HDMI cable from computer and monitor

Step 1: Check if the VGA monitor cable is defective.

1. Turn off computer
   
2. Connect the monitor VGA cable from the monitor to the VGA port on the computer
   
3. Turn on computer, VGA monitor cable is good.
   
   Step 2: Tun off computer
   

1. Connect HDMI Cable to HDMI port and TV
   
2. Turn on computer and TV, there is no monitor black screen
   
3. Click on the Windows logo, select the Settings icon , and then select
   
   System. Under Display there are two squares, labeled 1 and 2
   
   D Click on Advanced Display Settings:
   
   Display information: Display 1- Monitor Display 2 -TV
   
   E Right-click the Speakers icon in
   the taskbar, select Sound, click on Playback devices,
