Windows 10: set up AOL email on the installed email app.

Unable to set up my AOL email account on the installed email app. When trying to set up the email account, it will not recognize my password. Aol will work when I access AOL via the internet. My AOL accounts continue to work on my iPhone and iPad. mhg

Using AOL site and AOL email

I use AOL for my internet connection. When I call up my AOL email list, I am required to perform two double clicks in order to retrieve any single email item. I contacted AOL and they suggested there must be a setting in windows 10 that I need to adjust
in order to be able to retrieve each email item. Please advise what I can do to be able to retrieve each email with only one double click. thank you

 

How to Set the AOL app as Default Email app

The AOL app most likely is on a class, type or category that doesn't meet the conditions to be qualified as a default Email app by the system. However, we encourage you to provide your suggestions and feedback using the Feedback app or contact AOL.

Here’s how to sync AOL e-mail with Windows 10 mail app 1. Remove you AOL account and add it again:

• in the Mail or Calendar app, select Settings
• Go to Accounts > Delete an account > select and delete the AOL account.

2. Check the server settings in the Mail app:

• Go to Settings > Accounts > select the AOL account
• Click on Mailbox Sync Settings and make sure the following settings are there:
  • IMAP Username: YourUsername@aol.com
  • Incoming Mail Server: imap.aol.com (Use port 143 for standard or 993 for SSL connections).
  • SMTP Outgoing Server Address: smtp.aol.com. Set the port to 587.
  • SMTP Username: YourUsername@aol.com.
  • SMTP Password: password you use to login to Windows 10 Mail app.
