Windows 10: Setting a different desktop for each person that uses a pc

I have built my son his own PC and I created him a login for himself and one for me to administrate the pc and I want to set different desktops for both. I can't seem to figure out how to add an icon to my desktop without it also being added under his login. Any ideas? This was simple to do when I had a windows server running on another PC and created networking profiles, but I can't seem to figure it out on Windows 10 or 11. Any help would be very much appreciated!

Hi,

We suggest that you follow the steps below to put your settings back to default and see if it helps.

• Right-click your mouse on your desktop.
• Click on Personalize.
• Select Colors.
• Click on High contrast settings.
• From the drop-down menu, select None.
• Click Apply.
• Reboot the PC for the changes to take effect.

How to restore the old Windows desktop icons

1. Open Settings ( Control Panel )
2. Click on Personalization.
3. Click on Themes and select the theme you want. ( Some themes may have different icons than the original Windows Harmony Theme ).
4. Click the Desktop icons settings link in left pane.
5. Check each icon you want to see on the desktop, including Computer (This PC), User's Files, Network, Recycle Bin, and Control Panel.
6. Click Apply.
7. Click OK.

Personalize desktop with pictures taken and stored within My Pictures

Try the below steps and check if it helps.

I suggest you to create a new folder, copy pictures whichever you want to set as desktop background and paste in new folder.

Now browse and select this folder to set as desktop background. Follow the below steps:

• Right click on desktop and select Personalize.
• Under background select Slideshow.
• Now browse for the folder which you created.
• Turn on Shuffle.
