  1. Setting a OneDrive folder as the folder for Desktop Background images

    Hi,

As recommened by MS I store all my pcitures on OneDrive, with the images set as Online access only a blue cloud icon.

I want to set my dekstop background to shuffle through the photos and change on an interval basis.

When I link to my OneDrive Folder the usual way Settings>Personalisation>Choose albums for your slideshow the settings 'path is registered but no photos display.

Is it possibly something to do with the OneDrive photos only being available online?
If this is the case that is not good, as the whole point of OneDrive is to store photos safely with easy access, and this functionality is largely pointless if can only read off of the local memory and we are headed for a Cloud system for futureproofing.

Please note I do not want to make 'copies of the photos locally' don't have the memory space.

    Please help.

    Thanks, Michael

    :)

    Move the OneDrive Folder

Move the OneDrive Folder in Windows 10

When you set up OneDrive to sync with your computer, a folder C:\Users\XXXX\OneDrive will be created to store the contents. XXXX denotes your username. To move this folder to another location follow these simple steps:

    1. Unlink OneDrive from your PC:

    • Go to the taskbar notification area
    • Right-click on the OneDrive icon
    • Select settings
    • Click: Unlink this PC
    2. Delete the C:\Users\XXXX\OneDrive folder

    3. Create a new folder (target folder) for OneDrive contents, e.g. D:\OneDrive

    4. Create Directory Junction for the new folder

    • In the search area of the taskbar type CMD and press Ctrl+Shift+Enter
    • In the command window type
    mklink /J C:\Users\XXXX\OneDrive D:\OneDrive

adjusting it to your specific username and selection of the target folder

    5. Link again OneDrive to your PC using the OneDrive icon in the taskbar notification area

  3. Folder jumps to top after setting an image as desktop background

I have been having a strange issue since the day I started using Windows 8.1. I have a ton of folders with images that I use to regularly change the desktop background. Whenever I scroll through the image folder, looking for a good wallpaper to use and
right click to set the image as desktop background, it takes me back to the top of the folder after application of the wallpaper. It is quite inconvenient when I am checking what wallpaper looks good as I have to scroll all the way down again and again after
application of wallpaper to apply a different one. Any solutions would be vastly appreciated.

Setting a OneDrive folder as the folder for Desktop Background images

    Desktop folder in OneDrive

    When you turn on Desktop
    Folder Protection
your Desktop folder moves into your OneDrive which backs it up and syncs it to your other devices. You can turn off Desktop protection in the OneDrive Settings at the
Auto Save tab > Update Folders but you will then have to manually move your files back to the Desktop folder in your User's folder. I would leave the Desktop folders alone but just move the files.
