  2. Signed up to the site just to thank you for this. Noticed the wallpaper page was inaccessible (without the "/name Microsoft.Personalization /page pageWallpaper" parameters that Preppy noted) and thought MS may have removed the feature.

I can set different backgrounds but it keeps shuffling them every 30 minutes. Is there a way to turn the shuffle option off? I see I can change the shuffle time to a maximum of 1 day, but can't turn it off. Why M$ whyyyyyyy!!

If you want to set a distinct wallpaper per monitor without shuffling, go to:

    control /name Microsoft.Personalization /page pageWallpaper

from a CMD or Run prompt. Then when you're there right-click on each image and set it for that monitor.

I had my PC updated to Windows 10 a few days ago and ran across an option to set a different background for each monitor and for the life of me, I can't recall how I did so.

In any case, I came here, followed your instructions, and it worked like a charm! But it occurred to me that this may work directly from my Pictures file. So, I opened my Art folder in Pictures, selected one picture (monitor 2) and the other (monitor 1), right-clicked on the pictures in preview screen, selected Set as Desktop Background, and it worked!

Thank you for helping solve this problem--you made my day. Setting different Backgrounds for Dual Monitors in Windows 10 :)

  6. Hit the Windows + R keys to bring up the Run menu, then type control /name Microsoft.Personalization /page pageWallpaper

Hi, I'm new to that Forum.
I'm just starting to use Win 10 with 2 displays.
Préviously on Win 7 I was using DisplayFusion to get 2 différent images.
On your Forum I discovered we can do that just by Win 10.

I tried to use the above method to get 2 differents images on my 2 displays.
But when I right clic on one image I don't have the choice to select any display, as you mentionned.
I just get the following possibility "Define as background wallpaper for the desk"
If I clic the same image is displayed on 2 dispalys.
    Thanks for your help.

There's some weird video card driver going around that is breaking multimon wallpaper. If you're using multimon and don't have the "set for monitor X" options, your video card driver is broken, I believe.

The procedure I posted was for earlier build of Windows and does not seem to work any more. However, you can try this alternative:
You can also download: Downloads / Software / Personalization Panel for Windows 10. It is a small stand alone program.
Click on "Desktop Background" and you should be able to set different BG for each Monitor. Don't forget to click "Save"

Just as an update to my quirky situation. It turns out that I was having a conflict with ICloud. I guess the computer couldn't tell where the pictures I wanted to use were actually stored. Never thought of that since I don't use ICloud, so I just deleted it and now I can run themes with a different pic on each monitor. As an aside though, when I downloaded themes from ms they still wouldn't load, turns out when they downloaded the file name had a .deskthemepack extension. When I removed the "desk" part they worked fine. I don't know if W10 is looking for a different extension, or if it was left over from my Win7.

    Thanks to topgundcp.

I just try "Personalization Panel for Windows 10 ". It does the job I was looking for and compare to DisplayFusion is less heavy.
Just a comment: image positioning (center, scale, strectch, ...) applies to both images. I can live with that.
    Many Thanks

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Hi,
As I said in my previous post, using "ppanel_10" from Winearo, I have been able to assigne a different pic on my two screens.
But after a given time, the background pic was the same on both screens. Without any reason?
Going back to "ppanel_10" to reselect the pictures, it was impossible, the option to select monitor 1 or 2 where desappeared, only "assign to all screens" like under Windows 10 behaviour, was proposed.

After a given time coming back to "ppanel_10" every thing is getting back OK? Without any reason?

But the problem time to time is coming back?
More strange , some time the 3 options to select the screens are "select all screens", "select monitor 2", "select monitor 2" and after some time everything goes ok "select all screens", "select monitor 1", "select monitor 2"??

I thought that was WIndows 10 updates which were retaking the control??
"ppanel_10" version I'm using is "ppanel 10_[winaero.com] 1642" the latest version?

    Michel

Pretty late to the party, but you could just create a shortcut to: "rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL desk.cpl,,@desktop" and it will open the traditional screen on which you can choose which wallpaper goes to which screen with a right click. Seems to me that they missed this in QA.

On my previous post, bizare things were happening.
I don't have the explanation but I have analyse the situation and the problem to be able or not to set different images on dual screen is tied to the way my dual boot behave.

Depending on the sequences I boot , Restart or stop on dual OS (WIn 7 et 10), the boot screen to select the OS can be the legacy or the standard. Please see the PDF attached for more détails.
When I start on the standard boot screen, I'm able to assign any image to monitor 1 or 2, when I start on legacy Boot screen, the choice doesn't exist.

    My question:

1- Why this behaviour? What to do, to boot only on Standard and avoid legacy?
I joind on the attachment the data provided by EasyBCD, which are identical starting on legacy or standard. Every things looks correct?

2- Why this situation induces problem with the selection of background?

    Thanks in advance
