Windows 10: setting language preferences

I would like to change from the Spanish language to the English language in Windows, including the language that is displayed in File Explorer.


Any suggestions would be appreciated!`


"Editar opciones de idioma y teclado" leads to the window below. It shows English, as I understand it, to be the language para mostrar (to be shown) "the next time that you begin a session." I understand this to mean that if I restart my computer, English will be the language that is shown in Windows.

But, English is not the language that is shown in Windows on restarting the computer.

Hello,

Assuming you want to use English (United States) as your preferred language, try these steps

1. Right click Start Button or press Windows + X keys and select Windows PowerShell (Admin).

2. In the administrative Windows PowerShell window, type these commands one-by-one and press Enter key after each:

Get-WinUserLanguageList

This will display list of installed languages on your machine. Note the LanguageTag for your preferred language.

$1=New-WinUserLanguageList <LanguageTag>

Replace <LanguageTag> for your preferred language. For example, if your preferred language is English (United States), then you can use $1=New-WinUserLanguageList en-US.

Set-WinUserLanguageList $1

After this, when opted, type Y to confirm setting preferred language. Close Windows PowerShell and you're done.

Languages bar on taskbar not same with Languages setting

Hi Tom,

To assist you better regarding your concern, may we know if you have tried removing the said language from the
Language preferences settings and Language settings from
Control panel? If not, kindly do so by following the steps below:

• Type in the word "Language" without the quotation from the Windows search bar.
• Choose Language preferences.
• Choose Language settings from Control
  panel.

Let us know how it goes.

 

Language preferences

I access the region and language settings as you can see from pic1 I uploaded, but the problem is that English(UK) is not in the list with preferred languages so I can't remove them from there. They just appear in the task bar - down right corner, so it
is a few extra taps on Alt+Shift to get the right layout for me. Thank you anyway for your time Pedro.
