    Setting SSD Up As UEFI

    Hi,

I am in the process of attempting to install Windows 10 on the system listed in my profile. I have downloaded Windows 10 as an ISO and transferred this to an NTFS formatted memory stick. The installation process works ok but I am having problems getting the SSD setup for UEFI mode and secure boot.

Please could someone advise what settings I need to apply under CSM to get the SSD running in UEFI mode? And if there are any other settings needed?

    Thanks in advance.

    :)

  2. Windows 10 Restoration Incomplete and facing issues in installing Windows 10 on SSD (the laptop contains one SSD and one HDD)

To simplify the resolution of your situation, I would suspect that both the SSD and the original HDD are the same size. You could replace the HDD with the SSD and put the HDD in the caddy. On a UEFI device, it should not really matter where Windows is
installed, unless the system still sees the connection to the caddy device as removable media.

Another thing to check is if you have the option to select the SSD in the caddy as the first boot device in your UEFI firmware/BIOS settings.

The SSD has to show up as a UEFI boot device and be visible as that from BIOS. That means it needs to be a GPT disk with the right partitioning scheme (System files on a small FAT32 partition, etc.). Windows setup would normally take care of setting that
    up properly.

Tying to install windows on a brand new machine, computer hangs on first boot.

    Hi,

You may have partial boot files on the SSD messing things up...

Your SSD may not be set up correctly... Check the properties of your drives,

Select the Volumes Tab and the Populate...

Check for the partition type of MBR or GPT...

To run in UEFI Bios it must be GPT...

If it is set for MBR, it will try to install as "Legacy" Bios...

If you created your flash drive with the media creation tool, it should be OK for UEFI...

BUT... you may need to hit F9, F11, F12, or whatever your motherboard uses to select one time Boot Options...

You may see the flash drive listed twice... as a USB Flash, or UEFI USB Flash... You may need to select the appropriate one..

BTW... are you removing the flash drive during the 1st restart ?

  5. I'd just disable legacy mode and see what happens. A UEFI-booted installer won't create a MBR install and vice-versa.
