Windows 10: Setting up a Brother MFC-6490CW printer but getting a FEATURE TRANSFER ERROR on Windows 10...

I have recently obtained an elderly Brother MFC-6490 scanner printer etc. I've downloaded the setup files, can see the printer on my hub but cannot get the drivers etc to download. Each time I try and I have tried with wifi and with a USB cable The system starts to install then fails about halfway through at a guess with the error:FEATURE TRANSFER ERRORREMOTE SETUP_SYSTEM<WINSYSDIR>THE FILENAME, DIRECTORY NAME, OR VOLUME LABEL SYNTAX IS INCORRECTFor the last week, I've been swapping phone calls and emails with Brother tech help without successI've looked for help but there doesn't

Brother MFC-6490CW compatable with Win 10

Win 10 now has the drivers for this printer and I now have no problems setting this printer up. This issue was addressed some time ago.

Hi I have a Brother MFC-6490CW printer which I love. I have not been able to get it working on Win 10. Is this going to be a problem with older printers or will they not be supported?

I am running Win 10 and loving it.

Brother MFC J825DW Printer is Offline


Dangit, Microsoft has messed up my printers once again!

My Brother MFC J825DW (Inkjet) printer won't print because Windows has set it to offline!

My Brother MFC 7460DN (Laser) printer just trucks right along.

Anybody know how I can get my Inkjet Brother back online?

 

Brother MFC J6720DW listed with strange icon in Devices and Printers

I have reinstalled the drivers for my Brother MFC J6720DW and now the printer icon is listed in the unspecified category instead of the printer category. The printer is the "Device" icon to the right.





Right clicking on the icon shows the usual items for a printer (printing properties etc.), In addition it shows a "Browse Files" entry that lists the card reader of the printer.





To the left of the Brother printer icon there is another similar one that seems to be my USB card reader
