Windows 10: Setting up a guest account for a family friend and adding restrictions

Hi. I want to set a guest account for someone close to me but I want to know how to set a guest account for them but I want to add restrictions, to avoid damage to my laptop, like they have to get permission to download stuff, and they can’t access my personal stuff and more like etc… So it would be appreciated if anybody can help me with the setup.

Guest User Restriction

Hello.

The problem was not to create a Guest user account. Yet I created an account by the steps mentioned in that guide.

Problem is how the guest/visitor user is able to revoke the restrictions that were put by the administrator account.


I removed all access to the drive for that particular guest user from my admin account. I switch to guest user and its locked. But then without any authentication I am able to change the security settings.

Should this happen? Then how to restrict access to folder/drives for other users?

 

Took my device off and account off family features but still getting restrictions.

This can be if the family features were not updated/synced on your computer. Refer the below mentioned methods and check with the issue.



Method 1: Family Safety troubleshooter: Run the

Family Safety troubleshooter and check the status. This will detect and resolve some common issues with family safety.



Method 2: Verify the Microsoft account from settings.



Before verifying the Microsoft account on your computer, please sign out from the account and sign in back. Then follow the steps mentioned below to verify the Microsoft account.

• Press Windows logo key + I to open Settings.
  
• Click on Accounts.
  
• Under Your Info, if you see verify your account. Then I suggest you to verify your Microsoft account and check with the issue.
  

Method 3: Re-adding the account. You can add the account once again to Microsoft family and then remove all the restrictions. Once all the restrictions are removed, you can remove the account
from Microsoft Family.
