  1. Setting up a laptop for first use. No MS account, no "skip" option

I am trying to set up an HP Envy for first use. It has Windows 10 on it and I already went through the steps setting up the keyboard layout, signing into my wifi network, and now it is asking me to log into a Microsoft account that I do NOT have! Normally there is a "skip" option but there is NOT one. If I hit "next" it says "please enter a valid Microsoft account". If I click back, it goes back but immediately returns me back to that Microsoft login screen. There are no other buttons or options ANYWHERE on the screen other than "terms of use"

How can I get past this screen with no Microsoft account? This setup process is unlike any other Windows 10 setup processes that I have seen!

How can I get the ball rolling? And do not just say get a Microsoft Account. I cannot! It always says that my phone number is invalid (even though it is not) and MS will not let me create one without

    :)

That is correct. Here I installed 1809 Home while connected to the internet. The option to use a local account was missing as in my earlier screenshot. Then I entered the phone number 1234567890 and clicked Next. The option to create a local offline account is at the bottom left of that screen.

Click 'Ofline account' and you get this screen.

Now click 'Limited experience' at the bottom left to finally get to this...

The "mistake" you made is connecting the internet until AFTER you reach the desktop. There is NO skip anymore.

    Local account installation question

I'm fairly certain that Skip this step was available in 10.0.130 - the workaround in Step 20 (back button) is no longer required.

The currently known, as of 10.0.130, ways to create a Local account sign-in are
    • Skip this step at the MS account creation phase
    • No Internet connection during the install
    • static IP (post# 2 by Fragment) - New (to me anyway)
