Setting up Windows 10 Home network LAN between 2 PCs on WiFi

I tried once, long ago, to set up a personal network on my home WiFi system so I could share my printer and files between two PCs. I couldn't make it work then. Now I'm finally trying again, but I can't even seem to find anywhere in the Network and Internet screens in Windows Settings where I can do it. I did find the Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network and Sharing Center\Advanced sharing settings where it allows me to share files and printers for three different network "profiles." It says that the "current profile" is "Guest or Public" and I'm assuming that means my connection to the outside Internet/WWW. I have turned on file sharing in the "Private" profile, but how do I make that the current one and how do I know that it means my other PC on my local WiFi router?

    :)

ICS From WiFi to LAN on Win 10 pc

I'm trying to set up a small temporary 6 computer network using all Windows 10 Pro PCs running version 1803.

I am trying to share one computers WiFi connection to the other PCs over LAN using an 8 port smart switch.

I searched extensively and not found an answer, some say it's not supported anymore, some say it is but it's configuration etc.

I've tried bridging the WiFi and LAN adapters, enabling sharing on the WiFi card and enabling all the services. On this part I noticed that the services are listed with numbers 1700 - 17xx instead of the names as on win 7.

I've also gone to services.msc to check for the ICS service but it's not listed and I haven't found a way to install it.

I can config the PCs to use static IPs etc but I still haven't managed to get it to work!

Any suggestions that don't involve more hardware would be appreciated!

    Windows 10 - WIFI 2 - Cant connect

    Hi
    Myamara,

It is possible that your drivers are outdated or the connection itself has the issue. We suggest that you perform
    these methods of troubleshooting
and check if there are any changes:

    Method 1: Reset TCP/IP

To do this, follow these steps:

    • Run
      Command Prompt
      as
      Administrator.

    • Run
      this command:

      • netsh int ip reset
        and hit
        Enter.

    Exit
    Command Prompt
    and
    monitor your WiFi connection.

Method 2: Disable auto turn-off of WiFi device.

    Go to
Network and Sharing Center. At the
    right pane, click
    Change adapter settings.
    Right-click
    on your
    connection name(WiFi name)
    and go to
    Properties.Click
    the
    "Configure..."
    button and go to
    Power Management
    tab.Uncheck/disable
    the
    radio button
    for
"Allow this device to turn off this device to save power". And then,
    Restart the PC(Important).

    Method 3: Reconfigure TCP/IP

To do this, follow these steps:

    • Run
      Command Prompt
      as
      Administrator.

    • Run
      these following commands:

      • netsh int tcp set heuristics
        disabled

      • netsh int tcp
        set global autotuninglevel=disabled

      • netsh int tcp set global
        rss=enabled

Update us on how it goes.

    Regards.

Setting up Windows 10 Home network LAN between 2 PCs on WiFi

Set network for filesharing and different network (wifi) for internet

    Hello folks!
I am having trouble in setting up my home network vs. my internet connection via WiFi.
I have two PCs which I connected directly with a twisted pair LAN cable. Both PCs are also connected to my modem/wifi router via wifi antennas. My appartment is not suitable for cable connection to the router, so the wifi antennas are the only option to get internet access.
Now, when both PCs are connected to the wireless network the connection between them is always handeled via the wireless network which runs effectively at around 100Mbps. That is of course much slower than the 1Gbit LAN connection via the cable.
But here is my problem, as long as both PCs are connected via Wifi, they never use file sharing via the LAN connection where I could benefit of 100MB/s instead of 12MB/s transfer speed.
The only solution is to turn off wifi but then I lose internet access on that PC.

I hope someone can help me and tell me how to tell Windows, that I want to have filesharing ONLY via the LAN network and internet via WiFi.

    Thanks
    Peter
