Windows 10: Setting up Windows failed at setting up Microsoft account.

I reset windows on a Dell laptop so I could give it away. After hours of watching it work, I arrived at setting up a Microsoft account. It asked for either a phone number or an email address. I tried two phone numbers and three email addresses. The phone numbers were rejected because they "didn't look quite right" I tried several different configurations of each number. Each of the email addresses got a response that they were already used in a Microsoft account. This includes one address that I have never used for a Microsoft account. Microsoft account and deleting all settings of Windows 10 Preview

Ok.

If, instead, when I install a Windows 10 system, I create a local account and configure it and then turned it into a Microsoft account. At this point, how can I avoid that the settings are synchronized automatically when I finish this step and to synchronize the new settings that I had already set when I had the local account?

Microsoft account set as a work account and a Microsoft Account

Hi Dean,

As per the description, I suggest that you sign out of one of the accounts and sign into the account again. This will help us to know if the account used in either of the account is not the same.

To sign-out of the Microsoft Account follow the steps below

• Sign in to your Microsoft account on Windows 10.
• Click Start and then PC settings.
• Click Users and accounts and under Your Profile click Disconnect on the right of the screen.
• Enter your Microsoft account's password, and click on Next.
• Type in a Username, Password, and Password Hint that you want set for your Local account and click
  Next. Click on Sign out and Finish button.
