Windows 10: settings app crashes but other users on device can open it

Hi, my settings app is crashing. It starts to open, then crashes. My mom can open it when logged into her account on the same machine. We are both admins. could this be an account setting? thanks!

Settings app crashes whenever o chose Devices category

My settings app crashes whenever I go into the devices category. After some oubleshooting I have determined that it is actually on the Bluetooth & other devices category that crashes. It just so happens that that is what opens when I chose devices. If
I open windows ink workspaces and chose pen and windows ink settings that opens fine, as well as every other setting menu under devices. Only the Bluetooth section crashes the settings app.

I am up to date.

Run sfc sca,n chkdsk, DISM repair.

There are no usb devices attached, and the only Bluetooth device I have is a headset which is currently turned off right now, and the issue still happens. I don't have any printers installed. My thinking is that the computer is seeing some device in that
list, and something with the driver, or that device is not working right. Problem is I cannot get in to see what it might be, and to remove everything.

I am on windows 10 home insider preview build 15031.rs2 running on a surface 3.

Any suggestions?

 

Mail app will not open on 10041.

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it.

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

 

Parts of the Settings app won't open.

Parts of the Settings app won't open. The app begins to open, showing the grey screen with the cog icon, but then it crashes. Display Settings and System Settings are the ones that crash for me. (Search and you'll see that the crashing settings issue has
been around for 5 years or more, in various forms, with dozens of threads about it.)

From what I've read, this seems to be caused by a corrupted user profile. If that's true, then the user profile corrupts itself very easily for me. The problem may be this corruption rather than the symptom where the settings crash.

Here's what I've tried so far.

• Safe mode -- problem persists.
• Clean Boot. -- problem persists.
• sfc /scannow -- nothing found/repaired
• Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth -- nothing here either
• Chat with Microsoft support, suggested the following:
• Create a new user profile. -- problem reappeared after 2 days.
• Completely reinstall Windows! -- problem reappeared after 1 day.

I'm running Windows version 20H2 (OS Build 19042.572). My user is an Administrator. I am not on a domain.
