Windows 10: Settings app freezes when trying to access Capture Settings for Game Bar

I use Game Bar for recording videos and also capturing clips in multiple games. However, Game Bar's capture feature has been acting up recently and I tried opening the settings for it in order to adjust my recording settings. Whenever I use the settings app to open up Capture Settings, the entire app freezes and stops responding. I have not been able to reliably use Game Bar since I cannot change settings related to video capturing. I am currently using Windows 11.

Good day! I’m and I'll try to help you today.

I am sorry to hear about the inconvenience. I suggest doing a Reset of the Game Bar app to hopefully set the Captures folder location to its default which is under C:\Users\username\Videos\Captures

Here's how to reset the app:

1) Press windows key + i

2) Go to Apps

3) Search for Game Bar

4) Click Advanced Options

5) Select Reset

6) Then access Game Bar again and check where the folder is located.

Xbox Game Bar Capture Doesn't Record Mic Audio

I understand that you are facing issues while recording microphone audio using game bar while playing games.

In addition, you can also check if the Microphone for game bar is enabled under privacy settings.

1. Go to Settings (press Windows +
   I key together) > Privacy.
   
2. On the left hand pane scroll down and look for
   Microphone.
   
3. Toggle Allow apps to access Microphone
   to ON.
   
4. Under Choose which Microsoft Store app can access your Microphone toggle Xbox game bar to
   ON.
   
5. Restart the game bar.

Xbox game bar gallery not showing captures!

Kindly follow the steps below that could possibly fix the issue.

Fix 1 : Enable game bar in settings

• Go to Settings
  
• Then click Gaming icon to continue.
  
• go to the Game Bar panel, make sure the option Record game clips, screenshots, and broadcast using Gaming bar is on.
