Windows 10: Settings app opens and crashes, can't use search on Taskbar, can't update Windows at all...

I'm just lost right now and frustrated too.

So yesterday I bought a used HP Elite X2 1012 hybrid laptop. When I got home I decided to just reset the device, so that all the current files, installed apps (those were many) would be removed, just like a brand new device. Ever since then I have had nothing but problems and I just don't get it.

So I'm in Windows 10 Pro now and I can't select and type anything in the taskbar search, when I hover the cursor over it I do see it registering it but I can't use it, I tried via touchscreen, nope. So I thought...hey maybe this is just a Windows Update thing. Let's go into the settings app, nope. It loads up, briefly shows the cog and then closes down. Next step was Google and YouTube for me. Apparently these issues are known, tried many of these fixes and they didn't do anything for me. I tried updating Windows via command prompt, forget about it, not happening.

Before I did the reset yesterday the taskbar search worked fine, as did the settings app. I really should not have done a clean reset. But that's just crazy, I should always be able to do that. What can I do? Because I just don't know anymore.

This App can´t open


Hi,
Sorry for my poor english.

Whit the UAC disabled (Registry> EnableLUA=0) I get the error message "The app can´t open", "...with the Built-in Administrator account. Try with another account".
I get this message when I try to open any Windows App (Calender, Fotos, Camera, Edge, One Note), everything.

How to make App´s work with UAC disabled?

Win 10 all of a sudden open programs won`t minimise or maximise

Hi

I haven`t made any changes ..so probably a Windows update...previously with any running programs I could left click the icon in the taskbar and it would maximise and minimise...not now...also I can`t right click on desktop?? I also notice when I click on start I have these 3 `new` icons on top left of desktop...exted..pinned tiles..all apps...I never saw this before and it`s not on any of my other Win 10 pc`s (none of which have the issues described) Any suggestions gratefully received.
