Windows 10: settings app's buttons are blank and display settings crashes the app

when i go into settings, the buttons in almost every category are blank and do nothing, and whenever i go to display settings it crashes the settings app. what should i do? is this issue known to you? do i have malware?


also, i don't know if that's connected but when i go to google chrome and go on youtube and put a video on fullscreen, half of the video is green and the other half is black and white for a couple of seconds.


i hope you can help me as soon as possible.

Windows Apps Crashing

Hi Serge,

Display driver and screen resolution can be one of the cause of apps crashing. If the screen is not in recommended resolution modern apps will not work same applies to Display driver. Follow the steps suggested in the previous post and let us know the results
to assist you further. You may also check the date and time setting in your PC.

Follow the steps to set the date and time:

• Type “Date and Time” in the search bar.
• Click Change date and time button. check if the date and time is correctly set.
• Click Apply and Ok to save the date and time.

Note: Click on the Time Zone tab to check the Time Zone.

Settings app crash

Hi Vijay,

I have tried to the invoke settings app from the action center icon, Windows key + i and it works, however once i click on the systems tab, the settings app still crashes. I have also tried to enter the systems tab via searching for notification & actions
settings to bypass into the systems tab but once i click on the Display tab, it crashes.

I have already tried to re install the settings app by copy and pasting the commands into the Windows powershell(admin) and letting it run. After a reboot, the settings app still crashes whenever i go into the Systems tab or by clicking the display settings
tab.

Update : I have also tried to create a new user account for testing and it works. The new account did not crash when invoking the settings app. What do I need to do now?
