Windows 10: Settings keeps crashing on Windows 11, how to fix without accessing settings?

Sound card amplification settings

Yeah unfortunately ASUS and Realtek are not stepping up and fixing this it seems. Wherever I see such problems mentioned on forums some users are suggesting just uninstalling the Realtek driver and using the Windows audio driver.

 

Settings in Windows 11 keeps crashing

Hi everyone.

I can't open my settings app anymore because it keeps crashing. When i click on it (even when I try to open bluetooth settings from the taskbar) the window with the icon pops up for a few seconds and then crashes.

I tried a few methods that i found online (/restore health on powershell, trying to reset settings via .bat file, reinstalling the app on powershell with /get app package...) but none of them seem to be working. I have updated windows 11, but still nothing. A few weeks ago everything was fine (windows 11).

I would really like to fix this problem soon.

It's possible that the system files associated with the Control Panel and the Settings have been corrupted, causing your computer to crash when you try to access Settings. We suggest using the System File Checker Tool to rebuild the files. To
do this, follow the steps below:

• 
  Press the Windows key and R at the same time to bring up the Run dialog box.
  
• 
  Type cmd.
  
• 
  Hold Ctrl + Shift and press
  Enter. This will run the Command Prompt as Administrator.
  
• 
  Type cd Windows and press
  Enter.
  
• 
  Type rename ImmersiveControlPanel ImmersiveControlPanel.old and press
  Enter.
  
• 
  Type SFC /scannow and press
  Enter.
  

It will take a few minutes for SFC to rebuild the system files. After this, accessing Settings should not cause your computer to crash.

Let us know if your computer stops crashing whenever you access Settings after following these steps.
