  2. SetupDiag will not run

Thanks for reaching out! I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you.

To confirm, are you attempting to reinstall Windows? If so, before you begin the reinstallation process, make sure to back up all important data. Reinstalling Windows will erase everything on the drive where Windows is currently installed.

You will need a bootable USB drive or DVD with the Windows installation files. Here's how to create one using a USB drive:

    1. Download the Windows Media Creation Tool:
    2. Create Installation Media:
      • Choose "Create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD, or ISO file) for another PC."
      • Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) for Windows.
      • Choose "USB flash drive" and select your USB drive from the list.
      • The tool will download the Windows installation files and create the bootable USB drive.
    1. Insert the USB Drive or DVD:
      • Insert the USB drive or DVD into your computer.
    2. Restart Your Computer:
      • Restart your computer and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing a key like F2, F12, Delete, or Esc during startup).
      • Change the boot order to prioritize the USB drive or DVD.
    3. Boot from the Installation Media:
      • Save your BIOS/UEFI settings and restart your computer.
      • Your computer should now boot from the installation media.
    1. Start the Installation Process:
      • When the Windows Setup screen appears, select your language, time, and keyboard preferences, and click "Next."
      • Click "Install now."
    2. Enter Product Key:
      • If prompted, enter your Windows product key. If you're reinstalling on a system that previously had Windows 10 activated, you can skip this step and it should activate automatically after installation.
    3. Select Installation Type:
      • Choose "Custom: Install Windows only (advanced)."
    4. Partition the Hard Drive:
      • Select the drive where you want to install Windows. If you're doing a clean install, you can delete existing partitions to create a single unallocated space and then select that space to install Windows. Be careful, as this will delete all data on those partitions.
    5. Install Windows:
      • Click "Next," and the installation process will begin. Your computer will restart several times during this process.
    1. Complete Initial Setup:
      • Follow the on-screen instructions to set up Windows. This will include tasks like connecting to a network, setting up a user account, and choosing privacy settings.
    2. Install Drivers and Updates:
      • After the initial setup, Windows will check for updates and install necessary drivers. You may need to visit your computer manufacturer's website to download specific drivers for your hardware.
    3. Restore Your Data:
      • Once Windows is installed and updated, you can restore your data from the backup you created earlier.
That's it! You've successfully reinstalled Windows on your computer. If you encounter any issues during the process, feel free to ask for further assistance.

  3. SetupDiag will not run

I am trying to reinstall over a seriously corrupted Win 10 from a USB stick and also tried from a CD. It always fails - "Install failed in SAFE_OS phase" with an error in during boot operation 0xC1900101. I have tried to run SetupDiag several ways but it does not run. I have a milisecond flash and then nothing. During installation I get a blue screen and the computer does restart. Can you help me please? I'm desperate and frustrated.
