Windows 10: Several apps - Calc, Adobe, Notepad wont open - Win 10, multiple users multiple systems

Hello,

We have several users that have neglected to report an issue until recently, so i do not have an idea when it started.

These users all use 5 different desktop computers alternating between them.
Issue:

They cannot open some applications:

Like calculator, Adobe, Notepad.


Others like Outlook, paint, excel are fine.


When opening these apps they get no error message or indication, nothing happens.
If they open files related to these apps they get an error indicating the file cannot be opened stating that the location is not reachable. It does not matter if the file is on C: or a share.


Other users logging in on these same systems have no issue.

And if these same "problem" users log in on another system *like a laptop for testing* they do not have this issue.

All users are in the same standard OU in AD. Same for the systems they log in on.


We have used SFC / Scannow, DISM tool, Removed and reinstalled the apps, Reset the user profiles both localy and on the network.

I have made a user an admin for testing purposes with no effect.


My best guesses would be either a policy or a registry setting is mucking up the works, but we have been unable to find it.

Any suggestions are welcome. Aside from clean install, that is the last resort.

  What exact error message are you get when you try to open multiple apps?

  Are you referring to Windows app or Desktop app?
  
  
  

I would suggest you to try the steps below and check if it helps:

• 
  Open multiple apps that you want.
  
• 
  Right click on the task bar.
  
• 
  From the jump menu select Show all windows side by side.
  

I also suggest you to run app troubleshooter and check if it helps.

Multiple System Specs?

Would there be any possibility for a place to record system specs for multiple rigs?

I've seen many users here simply put pipes between components in the system specs, but that quickly becomes difficult to read.




As an example, overclock.net has a plugin/widget that allows users to list rigs in signatures (working example here):




I know at least the WCG and F@H communities would certainly take advantage of it.
I suppose an alternative is to do this somewhat manually, creating a build-log thread and linking to it in one's signature.

 

Multiple System Specs?

Im sure some people do have more then 1 computer. I think listing multiple specs is a good idea.
