  1. Several attempts of unauthorized logins to the account from various countries. What to do?

In the login history for about three weeks, I see practically daily failed login attempts. Sometimes there are several attempts per day. They come from various countries, such as Syria, Israel, the USA, China, Turkey, Brazil, Singapore, Norway, and Italy. What should I do about this? I know a strong password is important. What I mean is whether and how to report it? Will Microsoft do anything about this, or is it pointless to seek help there?

    :)

  2. MS Unauthorized Login Attempts - Part II

Back on 12/23/23 I opened a thread about MS unauthorized login attempts from Seychelles and China. As a result I removed my pwd (and turned off 2-Factor authentication) and now only use the MS Authenticator app on my phone to login.

I checked today and noticed since 3/29/24 there have been 3 unsuccessful login attempts (trying use a pwd) from CA, Russia and France. Yesterday (4/23/24) there were also 10 attempts to use Automatic Sync that were unsuccessful from Brazil, Kazakhstan and Morocco.

    1) Will MS allow a successful login to my account from another country or state in the USA that is not where I live if the bad actors were somehow able to break the security of the account when for the past 20+ years I have only logged into my MS account from the location where I live?

    2) I will not use a pwd anymore on my account and will stick to the MS Authenticator app on my phone but as an extra layer of security should I turn on 2-Factor authentication (even though I will no longer use a password). The "Additional Security" section on the MS Security page says "To increase the security of your account, remove your password (which I have done) OR require two steps to sign in." That seems to indicate one or the other not both.

I am uneasy about so many ill intended login attempts. For all these attempts I have never received an email from MS and my MS Authenticator app has never opened on my phone. Thank you for any suggestions.

  3. Urgent: Unsuccessful Attempts and Suspicious Activity on Microsoft Account

    Hello Microsoft Community,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to seek urgent assistance regarding my Microsoft account, as I have been experiencing a concerning pattern of unsuccessful login attempts and suspicious activity.

Over the past few days, there have been numerous unsuccessful attempts to access my Microsoft account from different locations, including Germany, China, and various other countries. The frequency of these unauthorized login attempts is alarming, and the locations seem to change every hour.

I am deeply concerned about the security of my account and would appreciate any guidance or support you can provide to help me secure it. I have already taken some steps on my end, such as changing my password and enabling two-factor authentication, but the attempts persist.

Is there any additional security measure I can implement to safeguard my Microsoft account further? Additionally, is there a way to track or block these unauthorized login attempts more effectively?

Your prompt assistance in this matter is highly appreciated. Thank you for your attention to this urgent issue.

    Best regards,

    Unauthorized Login Attempts from Overseas

I see two unauthorized login attempts recently from Seychelles and China and a couple more from the USA. Does MS automatically block any attempt to login from overseas when there is no history of the user ever having logged in from outside the USA?

As a result I have removed the pwd and now use the MS Authenticator app on my phone to access my account. I used to have two-factor turned on when I had a pwd but since I removed the pwd I also deactivated the two-factor authentication.

Let me know if there is anything else I need to do to protect my account. Thank you.
