Windows 10: Several .exe apps that worked before, not opening

Several .exe apps, that opened fine before, for instance Windows11InstallationAssistant.exe, are simply not opening. No error message, just no response. Others, like sqldeveloper64W.exe is still working fine.I checked Task Manager, they're not secretly running there. I even changed one to run on StartUp - didn't help.This has been happening since yesterday. I have been making changes to my laptop to try to get Windows 22H2 update to work, so it's probably something I've done, but I'm not sure where to begin to look.

Mail app will not open on 10041.

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it.

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

I did that to no avail, then I ran WSReset.exe; now I'm good on all 3, Mail, Calendar and People! *Confused

Can I customize the list of suggest apps in the "Open with" menu?

You can't use it to add additional programs, only to set default programs.

Interestingly for me it shows nothing for text files:








Then if I want to add a portable app like Jarte Plus to open with context menu windows doesn't like it.





It's not present and is near impossible to add even via "look for an app on this PC"
