Several Hard Drive's (Including Brand New) Getting Mixed Errors

Hey guys. So I'll try to make this as accurate as possible, but some of the info will not be 100% correct because in the last couple of weeks I've either forgotten exactly what's happened, or panicked and have confused myself. I'm running Win 10 Ver 1909.

So I bought a couple of 8TB HD's and formatted them and was going to transfer some files from a few 5TB drives. I think the first error I got was "this hard drive needs to be formatted" on the brand new 8TB drive and I didn't think too much of it because I figured maybe I only thought I had done that already. Over the next couple of weeks, and this is where things get hazy from my memory........but basically I've gotten about a half dozen errors, and I've been doing ALOT of copy/pasting so some of these errors have been pretty spaced out from when they've occurred. I think the two errors I've gotten have been the formatting error and something like "this folder cannot be found". I "think" when I've gotten the folder cannot be found error it was because the computer kicked off the hard drive and then rebooted it back up and when the HD came back up it didn't have any files on it but the HD was showing that it was full. I googled this and eventually found a solution that brought all the files and folders back into view.

So last night, this error happened again, and for the life of me I either cannot find that solution again, or whatever I did find didn't fix the problem. Over the course of the last couple weeks some of the things I've done to the HD's per googling have been - I've run a chkdsk on one, maybe even two of the 5TB's and did not get any errors from the scans. I "may" have done an sfc scan but I can't recall. I changed USB ports. I also have all of them hooked up to Hard Drive Sentinal and all of them show a full clean of health. Last night after the error occurred and when the HD came back up, it was showing again that the HD was full but I couldn't access the files again. I ran a chkdsk and there were errors. Afte all of it was done I restarted my computer but still couldn't access the files. I then changed the drive letter and still nothing. I then ran something like this attrib -h - r -s /s /d g:\ *.* and it brought back half the files. Basically I only have 2 folders on this HD, at about 2TB each, and a bunch of subfolders within them. It brought back one of the folders and everything in it, and also added a couple new folders, one labelled recycle bin, the other I forgot what it said. The HD still shows that the other folder with 2TB is still taking up space, so it's still there, somewhere.

Today I decided to try it on my work computer, so I brought in the HD from last night and the 2 bay Sabrent that I use with them. When I hooked it up, the same three folders were still showing but now the folder with the 2TB that I was able to get into after the attrib -h - r -s /s /d g:\ *.* scan was not letting me get into it, it was shown as empty, but the HD was still showing full. I've googled the living heck out of what to do, but all I get are 99,000 recovery websites that want you to d'load their software. I don't know much but I'm pretty certain that all the HD's in question are 100% healthy but something is messing them up. I've recently updated to Win 1909 from 1803 but I honestly can't remember if this was happening before the update or not. Could this be an issue with the Sabrent going bad??? I have no idea what to do next, I can't just reformat and start over. I already did that once and that just makes an already big project (moving 16 TB of files) to an even bigger one. I could use some positive info right about now. Thanks, hope someone can help.

    Chris

    Overclock your hard drive!!!

Heres a much easier hack that I realized quite a few years ago that really does work!

    REQUIREMENTS:
    • Hard drive with molex power connection.
    • PSU with more than 1 strand that has molex plugs on it.
    • Wire strippers, soldering iron if you're fancy, electrical tape if you're not.
    STEPS:
    • Take the strand of connectors from your PSU, and decide which one will be the donator for this overclocking adventure.
    • Cut the yellow and orange cables, then twist them together.
    • Find the power connector you've chosen as the overclocking connector, and release the orange cable from the connector. Now use your preferred method to bind them together, then place it back together.
    • Plug in a drive and feel the speed!
Congratulations! You've just overclocked your hard drive!
