Windows 10: several issues with text management et. al.

I have a Dell XPS13 2 in 1 purchased in March. I've spent an extraordinary amount of time with Dell tech support and they attribute all the problems to Microsoft. I'm not sure how to address these so I'll just do a dump and look for guidance.


The most annoying issue is with text management (for lack of a better term). While typing I get inconsistent text highlighted. I also inexplicably get the panel that pops up, normally requiring a right click. The unexpected highlighting makes typing a new document difficult as I have to always be conscious of highlighting. In my interactions with Dell I have received a replacement laptop, reloaded the OS from an ISO on a thumb drive, refreshed the OS and drivers a number of times.


Another issue is with facial recognition. While adding a new user I encountered a catastrophic failure, black screen, red light for camera blinking, inability to restart. I hit the power button for a few seconds, as is the normal start. Then I held the power button down for over 10 seconds with no effect. After about 5 minutes I was able to get it to restart. The new user has functioning facial recognition, but my facial recognition only seems to last for a couple of instances. I just reset it again, success TBD.


Another oddity, not fatal but annoying, is an inconsistent result from clicking on a URL. At times I get no response, others a word or the entire URL. Further clicks do nothing, full URL highlighted or highlighting to one side of the cursor or the other. Dell support told me the workaround was to click away from the URL, then go back for consistent action.


The tablet side of the 2 in 1 gets inconsistent results. Tap on a word and it sometimes highlights. At times I get a similar inexplicable highlighting.


I am quite frustrated trying to determine the correct component responsible (the cursor just jumped up 2 lines) for issues. Dell is responsible for the hardware and firmware. The drivers are a concerted effort linking the hardware with the OS. Is the touchpad or tablet screen firmware (hardware? driver? OS?) responsible for the inexplicable actions? My interaction with Dell got quite contentious at times. This is more of a rhetorical question. An interdisciplinary team would be most appreciated.

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.

 

Wiered resolution and blured texts/icons after Windows 10 upgrade.

I realize that you are facing issue with upgrading drivers. I will certainly help you.

This issue occurs due to incompatibility of the driver.

Method 1:

I suggest you to follow the below steps to run the Cleartype text.

• 
  Type cleartype text in the search bar and click on the
  Adjust Cleartype text.
  
• 
  Check mark on the Turn on Cleartype.
  
• 
  Click on Next and follow the onscreen instructions.
  

Method 2:

Check if all the windows updates are installed:

Go to settings > update and security >
windows update > check for updates.

Method 3:

I suggest you to uninstall the graphic driver from the Device Manager and check.

Follow the steps to uninstall the driver.

• 
  Right click on Start button and click on
  Device Manager.
  
• 
  Search for graphic driver and right click the graphic driver, and click
  Uninstall.
  
• 
  Restart the system and check.

Edge Search Does Not Permit Change of Region


I got these suggestions from the Microsoft Community forum.No. 1 worked for me:

Thank you for posting the query on Microsoft Community. I am glad to assist you on this.
We have reproduce the issue here and we are able to access non-regional search for google using Microsoft Edge.
I would suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.
Step 1:
Clear browsing data option of Microsoft Edge and check if you face the issue. To do so perform the steps below.

1. Click on the More actions icon next to the feedback icon present on top right corner of the Project Spartan homepage.
2. Select Settings and click on Choose what to clear.
3. Check the boxes Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and files and click on Clear.

Step 2:
I suggest you to create a new user account and check if the issue occurs.

1. Go to Settings.
2. Choose Accounts and then select Family and other users.
3. Select add someone else on this PC.
4. Enter a user name and hit next.
5. Click on Finish.
6. Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.

Step 3:
It could also happen because of network issue. I suggest you to try with different network connection and check if it helps.
