  1. Several Windows functions broken after giving myself permissions to the entire C: drive

I recently went into the permissions for my C: drive, made myself the owner over TrustedInstaller, gave myself Full Control permissions, applied that to all subfolders and files and ignored any 'access is denied' messages during the application process. Since then, lots of Windows functions like the Start Menu, Search including within the Windows Explorer, the Quick Action + Media Panels to the right on the task bar, the Calendar + Notification Panels to the right on the task bar, the Windows Store, Windows Store apps like Roblox but not WhatsApp Desktop which seems unaffected strangely

    :)

How to give Myself permission to use my own Files in C Drive

And I'm logged in as admin, and see this if I try to save to C: from a program:

    - which might suggest that at some point you have changed permissions.

Sharing entire drive gives permission access error, folders work fine.

So I just clean installed Windows 10 version 1903 on a few of my computers.

On one computer, I am trying to share the whole drive through simple sharing options but when I try to access that drive from another machine I get an unable to access due to permissions error.

Screenshots (Two drives (Office and Students) being shared:

I create a folder in the same drive or any other drive and share it manually, it can be opened and viewed easily.

Is there anything I am missing?

Windows 10: "Permissions" problems: can't share entire hard drive Lan

The Error message I get when trying to access the shared drive is "You do not have permissions to access <drive>. Contact your network administrator to request access."

    Current windows 10 version is 1803 build 17134.345 x64.

None of the computers on the network have passwords and everything worked fine when using homegroup.
Since home group was pulled in Windows 1803, I have setup network sharing following this Guide "option Seven"
How to Share Files and Folders Over a Network in Windows 10
Share Files and Folders Over a Network in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials

This tutorial works just fine when sharing individual folders, but does not work when sharing an entire drive. I am not trying to share the system drive (CSeveral Windows functions broken after giving myself permissions to the entire C: drive :) but I am sharing a local data Drive E: installed on one of the Intel Internal SATA Ports.

I actually got this to work by watching a "You tube" video but I do not understand why I need the extra step. I am hoping someone will have the answer.

In order to get drive sharing to work I had to Setup Advanced Sharing for the drive plus I had to add this extra step:

Under the drives properties: Security Tab: Group or usernames I had to add Everyone as one of the users and set permissions for Everyone.

Why do I need to setup Advanced sharing and the Security Tab to give permissions for an entire hard drive? This extra step is not needed when sharing individual folders.
