Severe Microphone Issues for 2 Months

    Hello,

For the past two months during zoom calls or discord or any usage of the microphone, it has continually muted itself randomly during calls. In order to unmute it, I have to click mute and then unmute on zoom, or I go to troubleshoot recording devices and it says problem fixed - audio device muted.

I then updated to the May 2020 Windows 10 Update, and the microphone now stops registering volumes greater than 20% and still mutes itself.

I spoke with around 5 Get Help advisors - I went all the way from uninstalling / installing to doing sfc /scannow. Nothing has worked so far. Checked for malware as well.

Two things I noticed were that it states on the microphone events tab - "Device not migrated" multiple times. Support didn't know what to do. I have an LG laptop so I cannot download audio drivers from their site.

    Any advice?

    :)

    Microphone issues

    Hi Michael,

Here are the possible reasons why you're getting an error "The microphone did not pick anything up" when using it:

    • Incorrect settings (microphone is not set as default device)
    • Corrupted or outdated driver
    • Faulty device

For us to isolate the issue, we'd like to know the following:

    • Were there any changes made to your computer prior to this issue(e.g. Windows updates)?
    • Have you tried connecting other microphone to your computer?
    • Have you tried connecting the microphone to the other computer?

In the meantime, we suggest running the Recording Audio Troubleshooter to find and repair problems with recording sound. We also suggest checking if your microphone is set as your default recording device. For troubleshooting steps, please see
    Geethu B's on this
    link.

We're looking forward to your reply.
