I bought a new laptop and I copied and install a 2 games in my laptop windows 11 suddenly after I installed the game a virus occured I tried to delete some virus but some virus cannot and all are severe virus. Microsoft security said "couldn't completely resolve potential threat. My Microsoft security defender is up to date pls help me resolve me to totally remove the virus and solve the issue thank you so much and my best regards to the team

Potential virus threat

A couple days ago I got a pop-up that said that I had a virus threat. It said that Microsoft would guide me through removal if I clicked a link that was available. The pop-up also claimed that it had blocked any use of my computer, but I could open other
windows. The extra Microsoft pop-up showed the WIndows logo too. The above tab for the browser window said Phishing something.

I did not follow through on clicking on the link to supposedly remove the threat.

I installed System Mechanic Professional when I got my laptop. I have only had it for less than a month. SMP did not indicate any threats or infections. It posts it when a virus is blocked.

Does Microsoft Windows ever post such pop-ups or was this a scam? Please help.

Does anyone have a phone number for Microsoft? I do not want to pay for any security subscriptions. All I want to know is if Microsoft Windows ever would post such pop-ups.

This message could appear if you've downloaded the installer from a not secure site which can bring virus to your computer.

If you're sure that this file is safe, you can turn off your Windows Defender or add the file in exclusion list so that it wouldn't be scanned by your antivirus. To do this, go through these steps:

1. Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security > Virus & threat protection.

2. Under Virus & threat protection settings, select Manage settings, and then under Exclusions, select Add or remove exclusions.
