    SFC and DISM do not finish - what next?


    I had an Disk error-checking scan issue with my C: drive. I resolved that.

    I tried running SFC and DISM to fix issues but they do not finish. What should I try next?

    SFC stops at 26% and says Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation. (I tried running in safe mode and same result.)

    DISM /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth stops at 18.9% and says The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.

    I thought DISM was supposed to fix corrupted/unreadable files?

    Please advise!

    I did:
    sfc /scannow

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
    All finished having found no problems.

    Now what?

    My Pc Crashed And I Have The DMP File But Can't Figure Out The Reason For The Crash

    Try re-running these two methods and kindly wait for DISM to finish. It may look like DISM is not doing anything but it is currently running a scan on your PC. If this did not resolved your issue, try doing the SFC scan.
