SFC returning multiple errors after new clean install

Version is 1909, build 18363.535. I did a clean install upgrade from Windows 7 on a desktop PC I built myself around 2012. Boot drive is a Samsung 500Gb SSD. There are other mechanical HDs on the system including 2 external HDs.

SFC has been returning multiple errors. I run DISM (all phases), reboot and sometimes SFC returns no integrity violations. Wait one day, try again and it returns multiple errors again which it can't fix. Defender finds no viruses or malware on any drive in the system. Today my mouse, a Death Adder Elite, started acting erratic. I have a spare one and it did the same thing. Tried all usb ports, same thing. I had to uncheck "adjust pointer precision" and move the slider to towards slow to make the mouse usable again.

So my question is, should I ignore the errors in SFC or attempt yet another clean re-install? MB is an Asus P8P67 Pro and CPU is an i72600k. Could the MB be going bad?

I'm attaching the CBS log file from today's scan in hopes someone can point me in the right direction. I'm wondering if maybe the USB install I created using the Media Creator Tool could have somehow contained corrupted files?

ps- Windows 7 ran perfect with no errors or quirks if that helps.

    :)

  2. Clean Install Workaround for Vista

You may remember this news story on techPowerUp! a couple of days ago relating to the lack of clean installs when using the Upgrade Editions of Vista, which required an old OS to be installed. However, Paul Thurrott has managed to find a workaround for this issue, which ironically lets users do a clean install Vista without any previous version of Windows, albeit a little tedious. Here are the steps:
    • Boot from the Windows Vista Upgrade DVD as normal
    • When prompted for a product code, leave this blank
    • Select the version of Vista you have purchased and let Vista install
    • When you boot to your desktop for the first time, run the Vista setup from Windows
    • This time enter your product key
    • When asked whether you want to do an Upgrade of Custom install, select custom and choose a clean install
    • Windows will now install for a second time and you should be able to activate it
Remember, these steps are only advised for use in order to achieve a clean install of Vista, it is only legal to use the upgrade editions if you have previously purchased the appropriate version of Windows.

'SFC /scannow' errors on clean install

I decided to run 'SFC /scannow' on my recent clean install of Windows 10 and was surprised that it reported so many errors that cannot be repaired. I installed on a 256GB Samsung Pro SSD. After trying a few recommended fixes that all failed I decided to do clean install on a second SSD which I just finished doing. The only thing I've done is install Win10 Pro from a USB flash drive, install the motherboard drivers and then let Windows do an update. The update also downloaded and installed the NVidia graphics driver. Then when I ran 'SFC /scannow' the errors were there. Many seem related to the openCL.dll as well as other files that seem related to the Nvidia driver.

I have 4 other PCs running Win10 and they all pass 'SFC /scannow' without any problems.

Have any other folks noticed anything strange about Nvidia drivers?

Next step is to do a refresh install and run 'SFC /scannow' before the video driver installs...

In order to help you better, could you please confirm a couple of things:

    • How are you through windows updates or with any installation media?
    • What is the exact error message are you getting?

I suggest you to install all the Windows updates and then try to perform clean install also I suggest you to follow the suggestion provided by Andre Da Costa replied on March 7, 2015 and check if it helps.
