  1. SFC/scan related question - File explorer keeps freezing/crashing

I work with my pc and move alot of photos, recently my file explorer keeps locking up on me and crashing, I ran a sfc /scannow and it gave me this result * Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag.upon looking into the CBS file the only section that mentioned being unable to repair reads as follows2024-01-07 16:19:31, Info

  4. SFC/scan related question - File explorer keeps freezing/crashing

File Explorer crashes on Windows 10

    Hello,

I realize the inconvenience you are experiencing with file explorer crash. I will certainly help you.

As you have tried many troubleshooting steps with no avail, I suggest you to try the methods below and check if this helps.

Method 1: If the issue persists, run
    SFC scan
and DISM scan by following the steps below and check if the issue is caused due to any of the system files missing or corrupted on the PC.

SFC scan is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files. If a
Windows Resource Protection (WRP) file is missing or is corrupted, Windows may not behave as expected. For example, some Windows functions may not work, or Windows may crash.

Windows corruption errors may prevent Windows updates and service packs from installing. For example, an update might not install if a system file is damaged. The
DISM scan or System Update Readiness tool may help you to fix some Windows corruption errors.

Step 1: Open an Administrator command prompt
    window by

    • Press Windows logo + X keys on the keyboard and select
      Command Prompt (Admin) option.
    • Click on Yes and continue. Provide administrator password if prompted.
    • Check if it says Administrator: Command Prompt at the top of the command prompt window.

Step 2: Type the following commands in the
    CMD Prompt:

    Dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth

    Dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

    sfc /scannow

If the issue still persists, try the below and check.

Method 2: I suggest you to create a new user account and check if the same issue occurs.

    Here are the steps:

    • Go to Settings.
    • Choose Accounts and then select
      Family and other users
      .
    • Select add someone else on this PC.
    • Enter a user name and hit next.
    • Click on Finish.
    • Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.

Keep us posted with the status of file explorer issue to assist you further.

    Thank you.
