Hello all. I am experiencing an issue when running sfc /scannow. I keep getting the message "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them." However, when I restart my computer and run the command again, I get the same message again. I am running windows 10 2004. Initially, I had performed in an-place upgrade from windows 10 1909. After the upgrade, I encountered this error when I had not encountered it in the previous version of windows, and the error would persist no matter how many times I restarted windows. I then perform a fresh install, which is the os I am running now, and I am still running into the error. The odd thing is that, in both cases, it is the same two files that are reporting corruption:

2020-07-25 13:41:21, Info CSI 00000227 [SR] Repairing file \??\C:\Windows\SysWOW64\\srmclient.dll from store
2020-07-25 13:41:21, Info CSI 00000229 [SR] Repairing file \??\C:\Windows\SysWOW64\\srmscan.dll from store

These are the two file entries that I was able to pull from the cbs.log file. In both the case of the in-place upgrade and the fresh install, these two files have been the files that are reporting as corrupt. I do believe, however, that I think I might know why this is happening, and it just requires a fix from Microsoft. For those of you with a keen eye, you may have noticed something....odd.... about the file paths listed above. Specifically, there are two forward slash characters \ in front of the file name rather than the one you would normally expect. I take this to mean that sfc is, for some reason, looking for these files in a path that does not exist. I also found aninteresting article which references an issue very similar in nature to the issue I am experiencing, and followed the steps within the article to locate each of the files' windows store backup and compare the hash values for the store files and the original files. This is what I found.

Sfc /scannow always returns "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and... 00e7a2f1-964a-4e3f-aea9-715712c6676d?upload=true.png

Sfc /scannow always returns "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and... d40dc08d-bf5b-4bd9-b20b-0cb9c16acff7?upload=true.png

So, in short, both files have the same hash as their windows store counterparts and, therefore, are not corrupt. So sfc should not be identifying any corruption in its scan if these are the only two files which it is detecting which I can assure you, it is. Has anyone else run into this? Is Microsoft aware of this issue and working on a fix?

    :)

Windows Resource Protection Found Corrupt Files

This Win10 Pro 1903 desktop began to display signs of instability. SFC /SCANNOW indicated problems. I ran these commands as suggested in another TenForums discussion:

    Code:
I thought the problem was fixed. Unfortunately, the error message has returned with later runs of SFC /SCANNOW. The message:

I would consider reinstalling Windows 10, but I just got through doing that to defeat the same problem. I must be doing something wrong. But how to proceed? That is the question.

  3. Please help me to replace corrupt files found by Windows Resource Protection (sfc /scannow)

    Hi Andyman,

We appreciate you for being part of Windows 10.

I understand that after performing SFC scan, some files are corrupted and
Windows Resource Protection could not repair those files.

System file check is a utility built into the Operating System that will check for system file corruption. The sfc /scannow command (System File Check) scans the integrity of all protected operating system files and replaces incorrect,
corrupted, changed, or damaged versions with the correct versions where possible.

I suggest you to refer the below link on how to perform System File Checker and check if it helps.

System file check (SFC) Scan and Repair System Files & DISM to fix things SFC cannot

If you are not able to repair some files after performing SFC scan, I suggest you to refer to the point 3 “Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log
    %WinDir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log”,
under the section “Run the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe)”
to repair the corrupted files after performing SFC scan in the below article.

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files

Kindly let us know if you need any further assistance with Windows. We are glad to assist you.

    Thank you.

    sfc /scannow Found Corrupt Files

I recently updated to Windows 10 and ran sfc /scannow and got the following message:

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log.

Since updating, I have had problems with my USB devices (such as my headset and a bluetooth adapter) not being detected. Could this be the source of the problem?
