  1. sfc /scannow and crashing issues following disk migration.

    Hello,

Recently I migrated from my ssd to a samsung nvme. I attempted to use the samsung data migration tool, but it resulted in my computer being very unstable and crashing regularly. Afterwards, I wiped the nvme clean and used a clean install of windows. This seems to have fixed most of the problems, but there are still some issues I cannot pinpoint the cause of. Whenever I am playing a videogame, watching a movie or a steam or anything that seems to stress the computer in some way, it crashes with a memory management error.

I have found a patchwork solution in the form of running DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and sfc /scannow afterwards to get rid of the corrupted files, but it only lasts a few hours before something crashes again, and when I check with sfc /scannow it says that I have corrupted files again.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Am I harming my system by repeatedly running sfc /scannow and the DISM RestoreHealth utility?

    :)

    sfc /scannow error repair

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We appreciate the efforts you have taken in trying to resolve this issue. I have analyzed the error logs that you have shared and I would suggest you follow the steps mentioned below:

    1. Type Command Prompt in the
      search bar
      on the Taskbar.
    2. Right click on the Command Prompt icon and select
      Run as administrator.
    3. Now, paste the following command and hit Enter:
      DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
    4. Once the DISM command is executed, we would suggest you to run sfc /scannow again.

If the integrity violations are not repaired after running sfc scan, the best option will be performing a repair installation. A repair installation will repair all the corrupted files.

    Refer the steps mentioned below:

Download the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool (MCT) and use it to perform a repair installation
of Windows 10. We have a video that can show you how if you aren’t sure

    Let us know the results.

sfc /scannow and crashing issues following disk migration.

Can't recover from crash caused by sfc /scannow

16299 (Version 1709) is a 2 year old version of Windows that is no longer supported. That, alone, can cause issues that are very difficult or impossible to rectify.

Strongly suggest you update to 1903, or at the very minimum, 1809.
