Windows 10: shadow text on desktop tab titles

Hi all.....recently transferred files from old Win10 sys to Win11 Pro 24H and the desktop titles have annoying shadows which strains eyesight. The browser toolbars/sidebars/bookmarks are not effected.I´ve tried various attempts to get around this annoying shadow issue and each time the shadows revert to previous. What´s the solution to this ?rJ

Thanks for the timely response and your suggestion worked. Once I backed out the October KB5031354 update, the problem with the desktop text shadows went away.

Now, a suggestion from someone who has been in the software business for quite a while: a bit more regression testing may be warranted on some of these updates.

Hi Garyeidson,

The drop shadows on your text underneath icons are enabled by default. This can still be disabled since this is part of the customization option of Windows.

For us to disable them, follow the steps below:

• Type Advance System Settings in your Cortana
  search bar .
• Click Settings under the Performance header in the
  Advanced tab.
• Under Visual Effects tab, look for Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop, and
  disable it.
• Click Apply to save the settings, then close the windows.
• Restart your device.

Post back should you have other concern.
