    Shadows on desktop icons February 2024


    There have been a number of very useful threads on this topic in recent years, so I won't go over the problem again in any great detail. Briefly, the desktop icon fonts have a drop shadow which is supposed to be optional there's a checkbox in the Performance Options window, which has never worked properly. A few months ago, the issue seemed to disappear with a new W11 update. But I have to report, sadly, that it has resurfaced. Is any other user experiencing this persistent problem? And if so, does anyone have a solution that works?

    Desktop Icon text is in shadow

    Windows 11 just updated with latest version 22H2 (OS build 2261.2428). Now the desktop icons labels are in shadows. I checked registry and found that ListViewShadow was set to 0 (the setting to eliminate shadows. Yet the problem persists. Anyone have suggestions on how to fix this problem?

    Cannot remove drop shadow on desktop icons

    Desktop Icons are hard to read. I have tried at least 10 different suggestions on Google. All are different. None worked. Why would have such a wonderful program as Windows 11 and make the icon text blurred with a needless shadow?? Help on this, please?
